NCCAD Locating Crew To Bourbon Fire Station

The North Crawford County Ambulance District will set up at the Bourbon Fire Protection District’s headquarters in Bourbon.

BFPD’s board of directors approved it during a special meeting on Wednesday night.

A crew should be operational there by tomorrow.

The move comes a week after NCCAD’s board voted to temporarily close Station 2 on Springfield Road due to safety concerns.

Representatives from NCCAD, including board members Don Mizell and Mike Delashmit and Chief Jeremy Stetina, were in attendance Wednesday night.

Asked what the safety concerns were, NCCAD representatives said they would discuss more during the next board meeting.

An unknown substance was found at Station 2, but representatives wouldn’t say if it was mold.

Stetina was asked about the timing of the closure coming just a few weeks after voters rejected Proposition Lifesaver, a $4 million bond issue.

“(Station 2) was still going to close even if the proposition passed,” Stetina said. “We didn’t want to be accused of fear-mongering before the election.”

There will be more on this story in the May 1 issue of the Independent News.
